Bakery Hill Distillery is a family owned and operated distillery that has been producing world renowned single malt whiskies for over 20 years.
In addition to producing and selling whisky products, the Bakery Hill team has a passion for educating Victorians and people from all over the world on how real whisky is made and how it can be enjoyed. The distillery was founded by former chemistry teacher David Baker, who was tired of being told the only place where whisky could be made was Scotland, because of the ‘special air and water’. David set out to prove a point, that exceptional whiskies could be made outside of Scotland and specifcally in his hometown of Melbourne, Australia. Over the following decades, Bakery Hill has done just that.
The distillery has received widespread local and global recognition, including being named SouthernHemisphere Whisky of the Year 2020 and Best Small Distillery Whisky of the Year 2005 by Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible
Distillery Tours
Our distillery is a working distillery and is not always open to the public. We are however excited to be able to offer regular guided tours of the Bakery Hill Distillery.
The 90 event includes a detailed guided tour of the distillery, conducted by a distiller itself where you will learn how Bakery Hill produces its malts. Touch, smell and taste all the exciting elements of Single Malt Whisky production.
Private Tours
We are happy to run private tours for groups of 6-25 people and will do our best to accommodate your desired date and time. Cost is $60 per person which includes a 90 min tour and full tasting of our core range of whiskies and gin (6 x 15ml samples). Distillery tour discount pricing on any bottles to takeaway is also included.

Guided Tastings
Learn how the unique flavours are developed and see Bakery Hill's brand new distillery in Kensington. The guided tasting will be conducted by a distiller themselves, so you can be sure you are getting the gold from the master. Tastings run for approx 30-45 mins, with our standard tasting (3 samples) priced at $40, whilst our premium tasting (5 samples inc Cask Strength whiskies) is available for $65.
